Principal PlannerDouglas County (East Wenatchee), WA. (Salary $5873 to $6599/month; placement to mid-range DOQ; market adjustments in place; supplemental pay available for possessing relevant Master degree, AICP certification and/or Spanish language skills.) Principal-level planners are assigned the lead responsibility to manage, direct and conduct activities for either the county’s development permitting responsibilities or the county’s Growth Management Act and long range planning functions. Depending on position assignment, example activities include: processing applications for land use permits and associated activities, staff reports, notices of action, conduct long range planning projects affecting land use and other required plan elements, developing and carrying out work programs, primary support for the planning commission and undertaking special projects and research. Principal planners are supported by other professional planners and technical support staff. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of land use planning, regulatory concepts and practices, and possess problem solving skills. Minimum education and experience: Bachelor degree in planning and five years progressively responsible experience in a public planning agency or private sector entity involved in land use planning and regulatory practices.Apply immediately; open until filled; first screening June 9th, 2017.
